It’s known that many factors such as available space, cost, flushing action, and aesthetics need to be considered to provide a urinal that meets the client’s needs. Today we will introduce Rajeyn’s concealed and exposed urinal sensor flush valves. What are the differences between these two types?
Flush valves can be differentiated by the location of installation. They can be exposed or concealed based on that. Like the name suggests, the entire assembly of a concealed flush valve is concealed, usually embedded into the wall, with only the flushometer button or sensor plate exposed. Rajeyn’s models like RJY-20-S201AD, RJY-20-S202AD are concealed type. The sensor plates are made of high quality stainless steel. The manual push button with LED light flashing is optional. Some customers may prefer this design because it looks compact and nice. Usually, for a concealed type of flush valve, you may need to specify a rear connection, while for an exposed flush valve you may need to provide a top connection. More often, the exposed urinal sensor is more popular in refit restroom as customers do not need to do extra cement work. Rajeyn’s exposed models like RJY-22-B101D and RJY-22-B102D are quite classic. For RJY-22-B102D, there’s mechanical manual push button, which is stand-by just in case the sensor is not working properly. Generally, the plumbing designer would need to verify the urinal fixture connection based on the location of the flush valve.
No matter the urinal flush valve is concealed or exposed, sensor-operated flush valves are more hygienic since users are not required to touch the flush valve to operate. Especially due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a lot of owners/customers are opting for sensor-type flush valves to promote cleaner restroom conditions. Usually, sensor-type valves may be hardwired (by main power) or battery powered. The battery-powered valves can eliminate additional costs for electrical connections during building construction. However, using battery-powered sensors means that staff has to replace the batteries from time to time. Good news is in response to this concern, manufacturers such Rajeyn have been increasing battery life to last for three to five years before replacement is required, which is great choice for the customers. Regarding to Rajeyn’s concealed urinals, the battery pack is compact designed into the sensor plate, which is much easier to replace new batteries.
